Hello and welcome to the Body by Patrick podcast. In today’s episode, guys, I want to talk about seven things you must do in order to successfully lose weight in the new year.
As we all know, every year, people set new year’s resolution. However, unfortunately, most people, when they set new year’s resolution to lose weight, they never actually finish the journey.
I do not want that to be you, so I’ve come up with seven things to get you started on the right track. If you do these things, trust and believe you are going to increase your chances of actually achieving your weight loss goal in the new year.
The first thing is, you’ve got to work on your mindset. Once your mindset is set correctly, everything else will fall in place and to borrow a quote from Albert Einstein, nothing happens unless something moves. Well, nothing happens unless your mind is set up right.
The second thing you’ve got to do is you’ve got to clean up your environment. Okay? There are things in your environment right now that are toxic to your goal. You’ve got to eliminate those things, whatever they are, it could be your physical environment, psychological environment, emotional environment. You’ve got to clean those things up; otherwise, it’s going to affect your ability to achieve your weight loss goals in the new year.
The third thing you’ve got to do is you’ve got to stay away from so-called friends that are not supportive of your goal, or are downright trying to sabotage your goal.
You know who those friends are. They know you want to lose weight but, guess what, they want to invite you to come out on a Friday night to go drinking, invite you to an all you can eat restaurant, they bring cookies to your home. Those are not the kinds of friends you want around you. I’m not saying get rid of your friends, but what I’m saying is you’ve got to stay away from those people as often as you can.
Sometimes your friends don’t want you to succeed, that’s the bottom line. Because they’re like, wow, if Jenny or John succeeds in losing weight, we’ll will not be able to go clubbing together anymore. So, they will do somethings to sabotage your goal either consciously or subconsciously.
The fourth thing is you want to do your best to eliminate stresses in your life. The things that are causing you to stay up at night, make a list of those things and come up with solutions and how to eliminate the stress.
Tip number five is you’ve got to keep a long-term perspective. Getting in better shape is not an event with an end date. People make the mistake of thinking, okay, once I lose 40 pounds that’s it, I have after stop everything I’m doing that got me to lose the 40 pounds. No.
In order for you to succeed long-term you’ve got to make exercise and taking better care of your health part of your daily life. Something you’ve got to say to yourself, I’ve got to do forever. When you do that, that takes the burden of trying to achieve everything by yesterday off of your chest.
Tip number six is, you’ve got to create smart goals, and you have to make sure that you’re tracking your progress over time. And, then also you want to create a plan because, if you don’t have a plan, you are planning to fail.
Tip number seven is, if you can, you wanna hire a personal trainer even If it’s to help you jump start the process.
Here’s the thing, most people, the biggest reason why they quit their new year’s resolution is because they feel like they’re not seeing result and because of that they lose motivation very quickly.
So, hire a personal trainer, they’ll get you started on the right track that way you can build momentum.
If you apply these things, trust and believe, you’re going to increase your chances of achieving your weight loss goal in the new year and beyond.
