Drinking more water can actually help you lose weight. This is because it helps increase the amount of calories that you burn while you are resting. Resting energy expenditure typically will increase by 24-30% after you drink water and lasts for an entire hour. Drinking water before a meal can also reduce your appetite and therefore can prevent you from overeating. Finally, drinking water is linked to lower calorie intake simply because water doesn’t have any calories and is much healthier than soda and juice.
