Whole30 and keto are both low-carb diets with a focus on whole instead of processed foods. Whole30 is a strict 30-day diet intended to reset one’s eating habits. Meat, seafood, eggs, nuts and vegetables are allowed, while grains, beans, dairy, baked goods, and sugary drinks are forbidden. There isn’t much research on its effectiveness. Keto is similar, though it does permit cheese and plain yogurt and disallows potatoes and starchy vegetables. Some studies show it can promote weight loss, though it may cause constipation and bad breath. These elimination diets can help to identify a food sensitivity and give the dieter a reset. However, both can create nutrient deficiencies and could be hard to stick with. Neither is clearly better. Both require consistency.
